Capsule 16 — Conclusion

Angelot Protocol and conclusion

The Underground Ethics Charter — a co-construction. How 25 people built together the foundations of an ethical framework for the night.

"If I need help, I ask for an Angelot: a simple protocol, grounded in research, implemented by a trained team — and it's free."

This capsule closes the S.O.U.L. series by presenting Order an Angelot, a free and concrete accreditation protocol to prevent and address sexual violence in party environments. Louise details a clear model: a discreet code name ("Angelot"), staff training, visible signage and ongoing support. Christophe concludes the workshop by recapping how each person can actively get involved in this initiative. Together, they embody the 20 S.O.U.L. values put into action — for a party that is truly safe, humane and conscious.

Memorable quotes

"If I need help, I ask for an Angelot: a simple protocol, grounded in research, implemented by a trained team — and it's free." — Louise

"It's not a secret password — it's a code word to act quickly in the noise."

"Everyone must be trained: bar staff, front desk, management, volunteers."

"Organizers need to understand that this doesn't happen on its own: you have to get involved, but it pays off."

Key points

  • The "Angelot" Protocol: a discreet code word to quickly ask for help in a noisy environment.
  • Accreditation and training: all public-facing staff (bar, management, volunteers) are trained as active witnesses.
  • Visible tools: posters in strategic areas, resource cards (including specific needs).
  • Free and supported: 100% free accreditation + follow-up and referrals (e.g. GRIP, Montreal 24).
  • Commitment required: time, human resources, coordination with professional security.
  • Clear benefit: serene atmosphere, audience protection, increased quality and trust for the event.
  • Network and follow-up: post-accreditation support, prevention materials, referrals to allied organizations (GRIP, Montreal 24).

The Angelot Protocol

Inspired by MUTEK's "Order an Angelot" system, the Angelot protocol is a discreet protection mechanism integrated into S.O.U.L. events. It provides an active zero-tolerance policy against harassment.

How it works

  • If you fear for your safety or someone else's, go to the bar or reception desk.
  • Ask to "order an Angelot" — staff are trained to respond.
  • No questions or justification will be required.
  • Staff will intervene discreetly to ensure your safety.
